1 Year of Rosie

The day we brought home Rosie, one year ago today, was one of the happiest days of my life. I remember the feeling of knowing, even then, that it was more than sweet, or cute, or delightful. We were bringing home a bundle of joy, and there was a palpable nostalgia.

Rosie has been pure sunshine and sweetness since day one. She has delighted our days far more than I could have dreamed!

My favorite things about Rosie:

  • She is so predictable in her daily habits. Yet, every day she is so joyful to be alive and awake and start the day! Pre-quarantine, she used to be my alarm clock every day, with a wakeup at approximately 5:30 am.

  • She loves antlers, tennis balls, and tearing apart any toy with fabric. We’ve had to designate a cabinet for her “retired” toys that are destroyed but we are too attached to throw out…weird? We call it 'The Island of Misfit Toys.’

  • She LOVES CUDDLING. More than any animal I’ve ever shared a home with!! She is absolutely the biggest snuggler ever.

  • She has the funniest pooping habits. Three times a day like clockwork. And, when she is outside looking for the *perfect* place to go, she sometimes comes across old poops. She doesn’t like that, and she tries to cover them up with grass or leaves with her nose. Kinda gross, but undeniably cute.

  • She is so quiet. A bark coming out of Rosie is a really rare thing. If she is spooked or caught off guard or sees someone she doesn’t recognize at the front door, she might squeak out a bark.

  • But when she sees her people…family, other dogs…she absolutely melts. She does this moan-y howl-y thing, especially around my mom or S’s dad. It’s almost as if she is expressing just how painfully in love she is with everyone.

  • Her favorite snacks: Wing-a-lings, Canteloupe, Power Bites, Dental Bones, and frozen yogurt in her Kong, which I call “the ice cream kong.”
