It’s high summer and I’m pregnant. Not sure if there is a less comfortable combo out there! We have been facing heat wave after heat wave, and it has me wanting to retire to bed super early with my A/C on blast. Trust me — I’d rather be at the beach, sipping a nice margarita watching the sunset over a bowl of chips and guac…but your girl is no where near that! Well, unless you try this non-alcoholic spicy margarita…which may be the next best thing.

I made this margarita one July afternoon and it became an immediate favorite. It’s super simple, 70 calories, and super customizable. I love a little kick, so a Tajin garnish and jalapeños took this to the next level. It is a bit lime-y, but if you enjoy that citrusy taste then I promise you will love this recipe!

NON-ALCOHOLIC SPICY MARGARITA

In a cocktail shaker, add:

  • 4 oz light lime margarita mix (here is the exact type I used which keeps the calories down!)

  • 2 oz lime juice (fresh squeeze or sweetened (add 1 oz for less of a lime taste)

  • 2 oz water

  • diced jalapeños (I used about half a jalapeño, but it is up to you for the amount based on your preferred spiciness)

  • ice

In a glass tumbler, you can use fresh lime juice or water to rim your class with Tajin. This is a game changer and adds such a pleasant salty kick. If you’re unfamiliar with this spice, grab it in your grocery store’s Latino foods aisle or spice aisle. You will not regret it!

After your rim is applied, add crushed ice, and pour your margarita in. It is that easy! For a showstopper garnish, add some jalapeños and a lime to a cocktail pick. As you sip, you’ll love the sour kick of the lime, paired with the spice of the jalapeño infused mix and Tajin flakes.
