My back porch is not the most *pinterest worthy* scene. It’s the only part of the house that we didn’t fully renovate back when we moved in. It is a sad and drab little concrete slab. Like that rhyme scheme?

Anyway, I have been staring at this patio all summer with a defeated, gnawing sense of frustration. I want to change it, but I am on a budget and we don’t have a full landscaping reno in the cards right now! It was too hot, too buggy, so this summer I let it get away from me. My empty pots were yearning for some plants, but I figured I’d wait until the weather got more manageable to decorate for fall.

I teamed up with Hortulus Farm to bring some new life (literally) into this space. This patio needed a major overhaul, and I got so many ideas from the inspiring team at Hortulus. They curate beautiful, seasonal garden designs that are elevated and rare, yet accessible and easy to bring home. I was so pleased to find out that not only are some of these plants perennials, but they are also deer resistant.

My selection came from one of four huge installations at Hortulus. Each styled installation features a different theme and color way, all layered thoughtfully and artfully on tables outside of the farm’s garden shop. My first inclination was to go with the soft and muted tones from the Modern Farmhouse-inspired table, but something kept telling me to go bold and for a pop of color.

I think this refresh did my soul good. Whenever I walk past the doorway to head outside, I do a double take because I can’t believe how richly layered and colorful this space now is! It is so inviting, and I am picturing many future fall evenings spent right here under the bistro lights. I am so thankful to Hortulus Farm for sponsoring this blog post and giving me the outdoor inspiration I desperately needed!
