Gold Coast

Oh, Coronavirus! The time you have given me to paint! I can’t tell you the last time I whipped up a fashion illustration I actually liked in this amount of time. Three days! Three days of “quarantine,” where I didn’t really leave the house (except to go for walks). Three days that were perfectly busy — filled with work, planning, webinars, computer time, chores, helping support my father in law and husband as they ripped out our master bathroom, baking biscuits, the list goes on. I am just quite impressed that I saw this thing to the end (and I want to do more). This painting was just beckoning to me.

They really are right when they say rest really helps churn out the creative juices (who is they, by the way? not sure). I couldn’t have whipped up this Gold-Coast inspired minimalist girl (who believes in the simple things, except obnoxiously-oversized hats) without the time off afforded to me by this nasty contagious disease. I guess when I think of Coronavirus … I think of Corona… Sun rays? Beams? Warmth? Summer? Beach? Sun protection? Hat. Stream of consciousness, there you go.

ciao, xo
