Nature Bathing

I’m procrastinating on finishing up some wedding materials and I decided to edit and post some of my weekend photos. My mom and I promised each other to make time on Sunday morning (the first day of Daylight Savings!) for a morning walk amongst the turning leaves. I had my heart set on the nature center as our destination because of the beautiful reservoir lined with orange, red, and yellow trees all dotting the horizon. Inside our walk, we encountered many critters (!!!). Two snakes, three bullfrogs, and one delightful little Scout!

Spending time in the woods brings me a simple delight, but also a little bit of trepidation. The snakes freaked me out, no lie. My mom named this little one Nagini Jr. :) If you’re into Harry Potter like me, doesn’t this forest scape remind you of the Forest of Dean where Harry and Hermione hid out in Deathly Hallows?

This is my first organic post in a while that is non-calligraphy related. Truthfully, I have gotten so far away from photography lately and it makes me sad. Having my fully-charged camera with me was so nice; I feel like I truly haven’t been “one” with my camera since losing the battery charger all the way back during this trip. I’ve always been afraid of wasting precious battery that I had actually stopped using my camera as much. Now I have a replacement (a cheap $8 from Amazon was all it took!) and now I feel like I have a little piece of my old self back. Isn’t that odd? I can’t wait to use it for more adventures in the woods this coming weekend. It is a big birthday month in the family and we have plans that have me thinking…this is going to be one for the books!

ciao, xo
