Orange Plaid

Going through the archives and found that I never posted these pics from last fall...ahh! I hope this makes up for my lack of cliche autumn-related blog posts this year. I have been otherwise consumed in grad school papers, calligraphy work for A. Taylor Studio, and just life in general. I literally haven't had one #psl from Starbucks YET this season!

I got this scarf from American Eagle last year, and was in love with the colors - just not the fringes. It's a bit bulky wrapped up around the neck, so I decided to wear it as a shawl. It is big enough to wrap around your shoulders, and warm enough to even wear on top of a sweater like I did here. I haven't pulled it out this year yet because a) it hasn't been quite chilly enough and b) I can't find where I put my fall clothes from last year!!  I have yet to swap out all of my summer clothes for my fall sweaters and vests.

My philosophy with accessories is to always go bright, since I wear so many neutrals (i.e black turtleneck, jeans, black boots). My favorite fall "brights" aren't actually brights, though: they are rich, jewel-ly colors like mustard, dusty rose, rust, and orange. Big surprise there! Now that capes and ponchos are back, I may be checking out a few more shawl-like plaids to wear for crisp fall weekends like these.
