Winter Light in the Kitchen
The natural lighting in the kitchen is unbeatable in the cold winter months! With the freshly fallen snow, beams of light are illuminated upward. Right through our window, we catch the best midmorning and afternoon light, and even in the dusk hours there is a twinkly, purple glow that is quite difficult to put into words. There is a sweetness about the summer, but there is a far more cozier feeling of being inside the kitchen in the winter. Without the leaves on the trees to dapple the sunlight, we get bursts of weak winter sunshine through our house’s old windows.
The snow days have been a great, great gift! I was able to clean the entire upstairs (well, most of it) and do a nice scrub down in the kitchen. It is organized, put away, and squeaky clean. I don’t often make an afternoon pot of coffee, but on this quiet day I thought it would be a delightful pick-me-up.
