Soft Autumn Decor
I recently put my fall decor out and I am feeling so inspired! We don’t have a ton of space for storage, or large decorations, and I am OK with that because my seasonal swap-outs are not very dramatic. I still keep my main pieces out, but decorate with smaller accents that are more autumnal in color. I think my favorite swap outs include bringing my mini-faux pumpkins out (!!!) as well as my primitive garlands and faux-bouquets. I think I intentionally decorate this way because deep down I am a commitment-phobe and/or I am a wee bit afraid of investing anything big when it comes to seasonal. The amount of time that the decorations are up just goes by way too fast! And I get sick of looking at the same things…
HomeGoods, local primitives shops, antique stores and some destination favorites are my go-to places for fall decor! Perhaps my favorite grandaddy-of-them-all destination favorite is The Potter Hill Barn which we ALWAYS hit on the way up to Vermont. If you are ever in Rensselaer County, it is a can’t miss stop!!!
Some of my signature swap outs include fairy lights, candles, faux florals, wreaths, and of course, little knick knacks that can go into dough bowls, baskets & trays, or other display-type containers. My mom’s absolute favorite fall candle is Orange Clove by Keepers of the Light…it is so homey and perfect for fall! I got myself a Nutmeg & Spice one, and I think that might be my personal favorite.
Aside from Christmas, this is my favorite decorating season! Christmas always steals the show, but this autumn setup is so understated and simple, yet different from the “usual.”
I always love to give my interiors a little extra TLC since that is where we spend most of the time! I truly believe it is a form of self-care to come into a clean and decorated house - the warm and fuzzies are just too good!
ciao, xo!
