Burgundy is trending in the fashion world - and thank goodness it’s a trend that not only I agree with, but it agrees with me. I love when that happens! Burgundy happens to be a very flattering and nostalgic color for me. It reminds me of my school colors, the holidays, and for some reason even the warmth and coziness of the Gryffindor Common Room comes to mind. I appreciate a good red tone, but if I am wearing anything in the red family, I’ll probably reach for something burgundy (or dark red) first.

What goes with burgundy? Well, it’s definitely a statement color - but it anchors a lot of other colors beautifully. Leopard print, dark wash denim, browns, black, and even ivories look beautiful with burgundy. Burgundy can also be easily incorporated into holiday looks, too. It could even look good with navy, metallics, and suedes, which are all colors and textures that have a richness to themselves.

If I am buying a burgundy piece this season, it’s probably this cropped trench (which is a statement itself), or a bag like this beautiful folded midi bag. I also love the viral wide leg leather pants from Anthro, but truthfully they don’t come in a true “burgundy” color (these are actually brown). It’s so easy to play it safe with a nice burgundy sweater, but branching out into another type of garment or accessory gives you more options to play with this color throughout the 2025 season too.
